Enthusiasm for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 remains undiminished. In the 2025-26 season, the 36 professional clubs set a new record with a total of 21,404,258 tickets sold. With an average of 34,974 tickets sold per match, professional football in Germany also recorded the highest attendance average in its history. As has been the case since data collection began and in line with international standards, the statistics are based on the total number of tickets sold, including honorary and free tickets.

A total of 12,718,097 tickets sold in the Bundesliga represents a significant increase of 9.1% compared to the previous season (2024-25: 11,653,239). This corresponds to an average of 41,562 spectators per match (2024-25: 38,082). The composition of the league contributed to this strong growth. With 1. FC Köln and Hamburger SV, two clubs with particularly strong spectator followings returned to the Bundesliga for the 2025-26 season. Their stadium capacities considerably exceed those of the relegated clubs VfL Bochum 1848 and Holstein Kiel.
As a result, total ticket sales in Bundesliga 2 were slightly below the previous season’s level. A total of 8,686,161 tickets were sold during the 2025-26 season (average: 28,386), compared with 9,330,725 tickets (average: 30,493) in 2024-25.

The average stadium occupancy rate in the Bundesliga reached 96.1%, surpassing the previous season’s figure of 95.9%. Maximum stadium occupancy of 100% was achieved by 1. FC Union Berlin, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, FC Bayern München and FC St. Pauli. Overall, 16 of the 18 Bundesliga clubs recorded stadium occupancy rates of more than 90%.
In Bundesliga 2, SC Preußen Münster achieved almost 100% stadium occupancy, followed by FC Schalke 04 with just under 99%, and SV Darmstadt 98 and DSC Arminia Bielefeld, each with more than 97%.

In absolute terms, Borussia Dortmund attracted the highest average attendance in the Bundesliga, with almost 80,000 spectators per match, ahead of FC Bayern München (around 75,000) and Hamburger SV (around 56,900).
In Bundesliga 2, FC Schalke 04 recorded the highest attendance figures with more than 61,000 spectators per match, ahead of Hertha BSC with more than 47,000 and 1. FC Kaiserslautern with almost 46,000 spectators.
In a European comparison, the Bundesliga once again outperformed Spain’s LaLiga (30,945) and Italy’s Serie A (30,084 spectators) in the 2025/26 season*.
The average ticket price for a Bundesliga match, including Value Added Tax and public transport contributions, was €30.77 (2024-25: €28.78). A seat cost an average of €37.14 (2024-25: €35.28), while a standing-place ticket cost €12.27 (2024-25: €12.04). In Bundesliga 2, fans paid an average of €24.34 (2024-25: €24.70); a seat cost €26.72 (2024-25: €27.55) and a standing-place ticket €13.20 (2024-25: €12.55).
